Peterhouse seeks to recruit a Library Assistant to work 29 hours per week (actual days and hours by arrangement with the Librarian) for the Ward Library for an initial period of 2 years in the first instance. This position might be a good opportunity for someone undertaking part-time study for a professional Library qualification to gain practical experience in an academic library setting.

The Library Assistant provides professional support and assistance to the Librarian, and plays a central role in the day-to-day running of the College Library. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to delivering a quality library service to our users. Reliability and the ability to work accurately are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.

The duties of the post include working at the enquiry desk, issuing and returning items, processing library material, managing journal subscriptions and organising binding. In addition, the post holder will be expected to undertake some work in the Perne Library, Peterhouse’s rare book library.

The job description and application form can be found here: https://www.pet.cam.ac.uk/news/library-assistant-part-time-29-hours-week

The closing date is Monday 10 September 2018.

First interviews will be held on Tuesday 18 September 2018.
