There are four main waste streams in the main University Library building. These are denoted by coloured inserts, posters and labels.

Food Waste (Red / Brown bins)

This includes all food and other compostable waste. Packaging generated by the kitchen / tea room is vegware and can be recycled in this bin. Packaging generated by other suppliers may not be.

General Waste (Blue bins)

This includes all waste which can not be placed in one of the other containers but it should only be used as a last resort and advice is available on how to avoid placing waste in this stream.

Glass Recycling (Grey / White bins)

This includes all glass that is unbroken.

Mixed Recycling (Green bins)

This includes all items which can be recycled apart from those listed above or subject to specialist waste streams. Crucially - this stream includes paper, which is different to the current model.

Please see the Recycling page for an introduction and an overview of the trial and the Frequently Asked Questions page for updates.
